“Y Adventure Guides”

Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA

January 2004

Dear Fellow “Y Adventure Guides”:

As a dad, and fellow member of the Y Adventure Guides, you know how your family and friends have been blessed by the Y-Guide Program. The Ed Isakson/Alpharetta Family YMCA could now use your support as we launch our annual Partners with Youth Campaign, raising funds for program scholarships. As a board member, I am pleased to not only be a supporter myself but to be in a position to spread the word about the PWY Campaign and ask you to join me in supporting the great work of your YMCA.

You know our focus…building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. But, did you know 1400 children and young adults benefited from $206,000 in scholarships in 2003? Right here in Alpharetta.  The money you contribute really does stay right here in Alpharetta helping your friends and neighbors who may be in a temporary financial crisis. Programs designed to help shape young lives and bond families like Y Guides. Who knows, one day you, or someone you know, may experience a financial crisis and benefit from this scholarship program.

That’s why I am writing; first to assure you and your Expedition (Tribe) members that we do not intend for any child to miss out due to inability to pay. And, secondly, to confirm that I can count on you to support our mission to better the lives of our kids and their families who need the encouragement.

This year your Adventure Council, working with the “Y” staff, has made an important enhancement. All money raised by the Adventure Guides members will first go towards scholarships for fellow participants of the Adventure Guides Program.

Your Expedition Chief is your primary source of information this year. Soon you will be receiving a specially designed contribution form and additional information from him. Please be sure to fill in your name and your Expedition (Tribe) name for proper “Challenge” tracking. If needed, feel free to call me with your questions.

Yes, we will continue the “Expedition Challenge” tradition from last year’s campaign. The Guide and the Princess Expeditions with the highest contribution participation percentage (number of families contributing vs total number of families in Expedition) will win the challenge. We have vastly upgraded the tracking system for this years challenge. The winners will be identified at High Harbor and their Expedition names will be placed on the Partner with Youth Campaign plaque which is displayed at the Y.  The winning Expedition members will also receive a special “patch of pride” for their vest.

Please take a moment to consider making a gift of $100. You may have a greater or lesser amount in mind. Whatever your gift, please know we are highly efficient at putting your donation to work for the kids.

Thank you for taking this moment to consider helping us help the kids! We can’t do this without you.

How! How!
